Effect of seretide plus montelukast on patients with cough variant asthma

Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of seretide plus montelukast on patients with cough variant asthma. Methods One hundred patients with cough variant persistent asthma were randomly divided into two groups treated with seretide plus montelukast or seretide only for 12 weeks. The pulmonary function and clinical symptom before and after treatment were observed in the two groups. Results Both the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and the FEV1% after treatment improved significantly in the two groups (P0.05). The FEV1 and the FEV1% in the predicted value in the group plus montelukast were significantly higher than that in the group without montelukast at week12 after treatment (P0.05). Conclusion The clinical improvement appears more rapidly in treatment by seretide plus montelukast than by seretide only.
