Abstract

Objective:To investigate the expression of survivin mRNA in carcinoma of bladder and it's clinical implications. Methods:Expression of survivin mRNA was detected by RT-PCR, and it's relations with the clinicopathologic parameters in bladder cancer was analyzed. Results:The total rate of survivin mRNA expression in patients with bladder carcinoma was 78.6%(33/42). The expression rate of survivin mRNA in infiltrated tumor (95.%)(22/23) was significantly higher than that in superficial bladder cancer (57.9%)(11/19), and the expression rate of survivin mRNA in relapsed tumors (95.0%)(19/20) was much higher than that in initial bladder cancers (63.6%)(14/22)(P0.05). Survivin mRNA was not detected in normal mucosa of bladder in the control group. Conclusions:As a sensitive biomarker for bladder cancer, the expression of survivin mRNA can serve as an indicator to predict recurrence and infiltration in bladder cancer.
