Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To study the improvement effect of Compound acne micro-emulsion cream (contain azithromycin, spirolactone and tretinoin) on skin lesion in ear of acne model rabbits. METHODS: 20 adult rabbits were divided into blank control group (n=2) and experimental group (n=18). The ears of experimental rabbits were coated with coal tar dilution, staphylococcus epidermidis liquid and coal tar for 28 d to establish acne model. Experimental rabbits were divided into 3 groups with 6 rabbits of each group: in the first group L-ear as group A (high concentration of Compound acne micro-emulsion cream) and R-ear as group B (azithromycin+tretinoin micro-emulsion cream); in the second group L-ear as group C (low concentration of Compound acne micro-emulsion cream) and R-ear as group D (tretinoin cream); in the third group L-ear as group E (hand cream) with dosage of (0.5±0.05)g·d-1 for 14 day, R-ear as group F (no administration) as model control group. The conditions of ear skin lesion in rabbits were observed and histopathologic evaluation was carried out. RESULTS: Compared with blank control group, ear acne models were successfully established in all rabbits; Compared with before coating, skin lesion recovered in group A and group C basically after coating, skin lesion were improved in group B and group D significantly and in group E partially, skin lesion was aggravated in group F. Compared with group B and group D, there were significant difference in group A and group C (P0.05 or P0.01). CONCLUSION: Compound acne micro-emulsion cream is effective in the treatment of skin lesion in ear of acne model rabbit.
