Specific expression of hWAPL in cervical carcinoma tissue

Abstract

Aim: To study the expression of hWAPL protein in normal cervical tissue,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN),cervical carcinoma and another 8 kinds of cancer tissues.Methods:The expression of hWAPL was detected by immunohistochemistry PV-9000 in 27 cases of normal cervical tissue,30 cases of CINⅠ,33 cases of CIN Ⅱ,38 cases of CINⅢ,47 cases of cervical carcinoma and 238 cases of another 8 kinds of cancers.Results: The positive rate of hWAPL in normal,CINⅠ,CINⅡ,CINⅢ and cervical carcinoma tissues was 3.70%,40.00%,42.42%,89.47%,97.87%,respectively;the staining score was(0.52±0.70),(2.20±1.19),(2.45±1.06),(4.89±1.67),(6.49±2.54),respectively.The positive rate and the staining score in CINⅢ and cervical carcinoma were significiently higher than those in normal,CINⅠ,CINⅡ tissues(P0.001).The staining score in cervical carcinoma was higher than that of CINⅢ(P0.001).The expression of hWAPL were negative in gastric cancer,carcinoma of the liver,carcinoma of endometrium,renal carcinoma,carcinoma of the rectum and lung cancer.The expression were 11.54% and 14.28% in bladder carcinoma and esophagcal carcinoma,which were lower than those in cervical carcinoma tissue(P0.001).Conclusion: hWAPL may be a specific expression gene in cervical carcinoma,and may play an important role in cervical carcinoma occurrence and development.
