Abstract
AIM:To study the correlation between the severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) complicated with acute lung injury and the expression of P-selectin in rat's serum and pulmonary tissue and the protective effect of Qingyi Ⅱ against the acute lung injury. METHODS: Thirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group (n=10), SAP group (n=10) and Qingyi Ⅱ treatment group (n=10). SAP models were established by injecting 40 g/L sodium taurocholate into the biliopancreatic duct. The Qingyi Ⅱ(6 mL/kg) was injected in the Qingyi Ⅱ group 1 and 12 h after the models were established. All the animals were sacrificed at 24 h. Then, the expression of P-selectin in serum and pulmonary tissue were assayed by ELISA, meanwhile, the pathological changes of pancreas and lung tissues were observed under microscope. RESULTS: The concentrations of P-selectin in serum and pulmonary tissue were lower in normal rats than in SAP rats (P0.05), and the traditional Chinese medicine Qingyi Ⅱ reduced them significantly (P0.05). Compared with SAP group, Qingyi Ⅱ group had less pathologic damage in both pancreatic and pulmonary tissues. CONCLUSION: Chinese medicine Qingyi Ⅱ redues the concentrations of P-selectin in serum and pulmonary tissue and alleviate the pathologic damage of the pancreas and lungs in rats with SAP complicated with lung injury, which suggests that Qingyi Ⅱ may play an important role in treating SAP.
