Abstract

Objective To study the value of detection of serum CEA and CA19-9 in diagnosis and prognosis in patients with gastric cancer. Methods Serum levels of CEA and CA19-9 of gastric cancer patients at different stages were measured by electrochemiluminescence assay. Results The levels of two kinds of tumor marker in gastric cancer group at stage Ⅳ were obviously higher than those in three other groups(P0.01).The positive rate of serum CEA and CA19-9 was 31.1% and 39.5% respectively. The total positive rate of gastric cancer was 53.5%(CEA and/or CA19-9).Conclusion Positive correlation between serum levels of CEA or CA19-9 and the clinicopathological staging of gastric cancer was observed. The combined detection of CEA and CA19-9 can significantly improve the sensitivity of diagnosis of gastric cancer, which also has a certain value in monitoring patient′s condition and prognosis.
