Abstract

Objective To explore the changes of plasma soluble intercellular adhesion molecule 1(sICAM 1) level in patients with malignant tumor and its clinical significance. Methods The change of plasma sICAM 1 level was measured by ELISA in 66 patients with malignant tumor and 36 healthy subjects. Results The plasma sICAM 1 level was significantly higher in patients with malignant tumor than that in controls (t=20.560,P0.001),The sICAM 1 level in patients with metastasis and death was higher than that in patients without metastasis and survivors (t=12.725,25.919,P0.001).The sICAM 1 level in patients before operation was higher than that in patients after operation(t=11.179,P0.001). Conclusion The changes of sICAM 1 were closely related to the severity of illness, with or without metastasis, and effects of treatment in patients with malignant tumor
