Abstract
Objective: To investigate the analgesic effect of Xiangteng capsule, a pure herbal preparation. Methods: After Xiangteng capsule was administered to mice(ig),the pain threshold of the mice was measured by hot plate test and tail-flick test, the result of which was compared with those of pethidine and NS groups. Results: Compared with that of NS group, the thresholds of Xiangteng capsule showed marked difference within 30 min,60 min and 90 min after administration(P0.05 , P0.01). The analgesic effect of the high and low dose groups of Xiangteng capsule (ig daily for 3 days) was similar and lower respectively than that of pethidine (ig once,P0.01). Conclusion: Like pethidine, Xiangteng capsule can inhibit notably the pain induced by heat stimuli and radiant heat stimuli.
