Study on analgesia and sedation effects of Baichuan capsule

OBJECTIVE To study the analgesia and sedation effects of Baichuan capsule.METHODS Mice's pain thresholds were measured with hot plate method in order to observe the influences of Baichuan capsule on them and we observed the influences of this drug on mice's torsional posture numbers with acetic acid causing pain.We also studied the influences of the drug on mice's spontaneous activities by comparing spontaneous activities before ig with that after doing so.RESULTS Comparing with saline group,the pain thresholds of 0.6 g·kg~-1 group of Baichuan capsule reduced markedly(P0.05) and its analgesia percentage was 58.3%.In 0.3 and 0.15 g kg~-1 groups,the pain thresholds had decreasing tendency,but no statistics significance.0.6 and 0.3 g·kg~-1 of this drug could decrease mice's torsional posture numbers and their analgesia percentage were 67.9% and 55.8% respectively. Various dosages of Baichuan capsule could decrease mice's spontaneous activities significantly(P0.05)by comparing one group with another and before ig.CONCLUSIONBaichuancapsule has significant analgesia and sedation effects.
