Investigation and Analysis of Irrational Drug Usage in Prescriptions of Out-patient in 2008

Objective To improve the level of rational drug usage in out-patient by investigate the situation of irrational drug usage in out-patient.Methods A total of 9854 prescriptions randomly selected from January to March 2009 in the first affiliated hospital of Sun Yat-Sen university were investigated stochastically in order to understand the situation of the irrational drug usage.Repeated medication,irrational combined usage of drugs,irrational solvent,and unreasonable drug election was thoroughly investigated.Results There are 386 unreasonable prescriptions,accounting for 3.92% of the whole prescriptions.Conclusion The drug application of out-patients is basically rational in our hospital,while there are still some problems.Clinician and pharmacist both need to learn the pharmacy knowledge.
