Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical curative effect of the glass fiber-reinforced post and metal post on the residual roots and crown of maxillary anterior teeth. Methods 110 patients with120 cases maxillary anterior teeth were randomly divided into two groups, each group with 60 teeth. One group were performed with the glass fiber-reinforced post after perfect root canal therapy while the other group were performed with the metal post after perfect root canal therapy. The bleeding index periodontal health, masticatory efficacy and complications were followed investigated after 1 years and 2 years. Results The restored successful rate in the glass fiber post and resin core group was 95% significantly higher than that of cast metal post and core group(P0.05).The chewing functional efficiency after repair 1 year had no significant difference between two group while chewing functional efficiency after repair 2 year in the glass fiber post and resin core group significantly higher than that of the metal casting post and core group(P0.05).The fracture strength of teeth in the glass fiberreinforced post group after the repair 2 years was significantly increased compared with before treatment(P0.05) while had no significant difference between two group(P0.05).The GI and SBI of teeth in the glass fiber-reinforced post group after the repair 2 years were(0.52±0.03) and(1.13± 0.48) was significantly lower than that before treatment and metal casting post and core group after the repair level(P0.05).Conclusion The using of the glass fiber-reinforced post after complete root canal therapy on the residual roots and crown of maxillary anterior teeth had high success rate, less adverse reaction and good chewing function. The comprehensive clinical was significantly better than the cast metal posts and cores.
