Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical results on the residual crown root of maxillary anterior teeth using a glass fiber post resin core and metal casting post core. Methods 170 cases(170 teeth) with root defects from March 2011 to May 2013 in the Second Hospital of Lishui City were selected and analyzed retrospectively, all of them were divided into metal casting post core group and glass fiber post resin post core group with 85 cases in each group according to the treatment methods. Total repair success rate, masticatory efficiency rate 1, 2 years after the repair, antifracture strength before and after the repair, gingival index(GI), repairing teeth bleeding index(SBI) between the two groups were compared. Results ①Total repair success rate in glass fiber post resin post core group [95.29%(81/85)] was higher than that in metal casting post core group [84.71%(72/85)], the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05); the occurrence rate of gingivitis, gingival coloration, crown or root fracture, crown loose or fall off, pile nuclear loose or fall off in glass fiber post resin post core group were lower than those in metal casting post core group, the differences were statistically significant(P 0.05). ②The difference of efficiency rate 1 year after the repair between the glass fiber post resin post core group and the metal casting post core group was not statistically significant(P 0.05); the difference of efficiency rate 2 year after the repair in glass fiber post resin post core group [88.24%(75/85)] was higher than that in metal casting post core group [80.00%(68/85)], the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05). ③The anti-fracture strength after the repair in the two groups were all higher than those before the repair, GI and SBI after the repair were all lower than that beforethe repair, the differences were statistically significant(P 0.05). Conclusion Glass fiber post core has a high success rate, more desirable chewing function in the repair of maxillary anterior residual roots and crowns, it has more remarkable efficiency than the metal casting post core, it is more significant in clinical application.
