Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical effect of Vitapex paste and Zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) iodoform paste used for root canal filling of primary teeth. Methods A total of 120 patients (134 teeth) who needed root canal filling in our hospital from 2008 to 2010 were randomly divided into two groups. Groups A was treated with Vitapex paste, while groups B was treated with ZOE iodoform paste. The patients were followed up and observed for clinical efficacy two weeks, one month and three months after treatment. Results Two weeks after treatment, the success rate of group A was significantly higher than that of group B (P0.05). One month and three months after treatment, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P0.05). Conclusion Vitapex paste is a good choice for root canal filling of primary teeth, which should be used widely in clinic.
