Abstract

It has been found that p toluene sulfonic acid was superior to H 2SO 4 when used as catalyst for esterification of butyric acid with butyl alcohol.The optimum reaction conditions in synthesis of butyl butyrate catalyzed with p toluene sulfonic acid were determined,with the yield at 97.8%.
