Study of Huazhuo Jiangzhi Decoction on lipid-lowering in hyperlipidemic rats and its antioxidant capacity

Objective:To study the mechanism of Huazhuo Jiangzhi decoction on lipid-lowering preliminarily by observing its regulating role in hyperlipidemic rats and its influence on serum malondialdehyde (MDA) activity. Methods:Sixty adult SD rats were randomly divided into blank group,model group,control group,and 3 groups with high (24 g/kg),medium (12 g/kg) and low (6 g/kg) dose group of Huazhuo Jiangzhi Decoction respectively,10 in each group. After 21 days,their total blood cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and serum MDA activity were measured. Results:Compared with model group,the serum TC,TG,LDL-C and MDA levels of all groups with Huazhuo Jiangzhi Decoction dose are obviously lower (P0.05). Compared with the control group,the group with the high dose of Huazhuo Jiangzhi Decoction decreased serum TC and TG (P0.05). Huazhuo Jiangzhi Decoction high or medium dose group to reduce serum LDL-C and MDA was better than the control group (P0.05). The differences were statistically significant. The concentration of the serum HDL-C of the groups with Huazhuo Jiangzhi Decoction had no signifcant differences with control group (P0.05). Conclusion:Huazhuo Jiangzhi Decoction can regulate blood lipid,reduce the vitality of serum MDA and decrease lipid peroxidation injury.
