Abstract

The synthesis of octyl hexanoate was catalyzed by solid superacid catalyst SO2-4/TiO2- SnO2,using hexanoic acid and octanol as raw material. The effect of preparing conditions of catalyst and esterification conditions on the synthesis were studied, and the product were characterized by GC- MS and FTIR. The experiment results showed that the appropriate preparation of catalysts were as follow: n( TiO2) ∶ n( SnO2) =5 ∶ 1,the concentration of sulfuric acid 0. 75 mol /L,calcination temperature 500 ℃. Through the orthogonal experiment, the optimized reaction process of octyl hexanoate was obtained: the molar ratio of hexanoic acid to octanol was 1 ∶ 1. 5,amount of catalyst was 0. 45g( relative to 0.05 mol hexanoic acid),cyclohexane dosage was 3 mL,and reaction time was 1.5 h,under the above conditions, the esterification rate can reach to 98. 2%.
