Abstract
Ethyl hexanoate was synthesized from ethyl alcohol and hexanoic acid in the presence of solid superacid SO42-/Fe2O3-CoO.The experimental result showed that solid superacid SO42-/Fe2O3 - CoO exhibited high catalytic activity for esterification reaction. The optimum reaction conditions were:hexanoic acid was 0.2mol,n(ethyl alcohol): n (hexanoic acid) = 1.8:1.0, the amount of catalyst was 0.8g(when hexanoic acid was 0.2mol) ,the amount of the water removing reagent was 12mL,the reacting time was 2h.The yield of esterification reached 97%.
