Abstract

Objective To investigate the expressions of Ki-67, C-erbB-2 and P53 in breast cancer tissue and their correlations with clinical and pathological features. Methods The expressions of Ki-67, C-erB-2 and P53 in 156 cases of breast cancer were assessed by immunohistochemical methods and their correlations with clinical and pathological factors were analyzed. Results ① The positive rates of Ki-67, C-erbB-2 and P53 were 69.9%,63.4% and 57.1%, respectively. ② The expressions of Ki-67, C-erbB-2 and P53 were not correlated with patient’s age and tumor diameter, but the expressions of Ki-67, C-erbB-2 were correlated significantly with the clinical stage of tumor and the vessel invasion (P 0.01). The expression of C-erB-2 was correlated with lymph node metastasis status (P0.01), while the expression of Ki-67 was not. ③ The expressions of Ki-67 and C-erbB-2 had a negative correlation with the expression of estrogen receptor(ER) (P0.01). The expression of P53 had no correlation with the expressions of estrogen receptor(ER) and progestin receptor (PR). ④ The expression of Ki-67 had a positive correlation with the expressions of C-erbB-2 (P0.01), but there was no significant correlation between Ki-67 and P53 (P0.05). Conclusions The expressions of Ki-67 and C-erbB-2 could be used as biological markers for estimating the development and progression of breast cancer. Combined detection of Ki-67 and C-erbB-2 may help clinicians to judge the clinical stage of breast cancer.
