Clinical Observation of "Chang'an Decoction" Combined with Chemotherapy in Treating Postoperative Colorectal Cancer

Abstract
Objective:To observe the effects of Chang'an Decoction combined with chemotherapy on postoperative colorectal cancer and the quality of life of the patients.Methods:A total of 80 patients with colorectal cancer after operation were randomly divided into treatment group(n=40) and control group(n=40).The treatment group was treated by Chang'an Decoction combined with chemotherapy,and the control group was treated by chemotherapy alone.The recurrence and metastasis rate and the survival rate were observed,meanwhile the quality of life of all the patients was evaluated by EORTC QLQ-C30 V3.0 scale.Results:In treatment group,the recurrence and metastasis rate of patients at Duke's B stage was significantly lower than that of patients at Duke's C stage(P0.05).The 3-year survival rate of treatment group was slightly higher than that of the control group,but there was no significant difference between two groups(P0.05).The treatment group was obviously better than the control group in improving physical function,role function,emotional function,cognitive function and social function(P0.05~0.001),and the symptoms of pain and loss of appetite in treatment group were remarkably alleviated compared with control group(P0.001,P0.01).Conclusion:Chang'an Decoction can improve the quality of life of the patients with colorectal cancer after operation.
