Clinical observation of Longdan Xiegan decoction and Bushen Huatan decoction in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Longdan Xiegan decoction and Bushen Huatan decoction in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome( PCOS). Methods 56 patients with PCOS in Dujiangyan City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during 2009 to 2011 were randomly divided into control group and observation group with 28 cases in each group,treating with taie – 35 and Longdan Xiegan Decoction combined with Bushen Huatan decoction respectively. The menstruation,clinical symptoms,basal body temperature( BBT),blood biochemical indexes and pregnancies were compared between two groups. Results The irregular menstruation,acne and BBT were significantly improved after treatment,the improvement of BBT in observation group was superior to control group( P 0. 05). The serum luteinizing hormone( LH),LH /follicle- stimulating hormone( FSH),free testosterone( FT) and androstenedione( A2) were significantly reduced in the both groups,PRL in observation group after treatment were significantly lower than that before treatment and control group( P 0. 05),no statistically differences were found in LH,FSH,LH /FSH,FT and A after treatment between two groups( P 0. 05).Conclusion PCOS and the hyperandrogenemia could be effectively treated by Longdan Xiegan decoction and Bushen Huatan decoction.
