Abstract

Objective: To investigate the significance of admission blood glucose level on hematoma growth and the prognosis after intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods: 196 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage were divided into two groups according to Brott's diagnostic criteria:patients with hematoma growth and patients without hematoma growth.Univariate and multivariate analyzes were used to access the impact of admission blood glucose level on hematoma growth and the prognosis. Results: Compared with the patients without hematoma growth, the patients with hematoma growth had a higher admission blood glucose level, higher proportion of drinking, higher systolic blood pressure, higher low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level and lower fibrinogen level(P0.05).The multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that admission blood glucose level, systolic blood pressure, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level were independent predictors of hematoma growth. Conclusion: Admission blood glucose level is an independent predictor of hematoma growth after intracerebral hemorrhage.
