Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis(4 cases of misdiagnosis)

Objective To study the causes of misdiagnosis of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) and its diagnosis and treatments . Methods To summarize the clinical features, laboratory data and imaging findings of 4 cases of XGP,together with the review of related literature.Results Among the 4 cases , 2 were treated by nephrectomy , 1 by renal cavernostomy and 1 by redical nephrectomy .All cases were cured through operation and no relapse occuced . Conclusion In order to prevent the misdiagnosis computerized tomoscanning together with renal arteriography and renal biopsy should all be used.
