Abstract
Iron (Ⅲ) in NaOH can catalyze the discolouring oxidation of 3,5 dibromosalicylfluorond (DBSF) by H 2O 2.A new catalytic spectrophotometric method for determining trace iron (Ⅲ) is devised.Factors affecting the speed of reaction are investigated.The sensitivity of the method is 5.4×10 -11 g/ml,the linear respondence ranges between 0~0.2 μg/10ml.This method is simple,accurate and more interference tolerant.This method has been used in the determination of trace iron (Ⅲ) in tea and Mongolian medicine with satisfactory results.
