Abstract

The oxidation of methyl orange by hydrogen peroxide in sulfuric acid medium using trace iron (Ⅲ) as catalyst and the kinetic condition were investigated in this paper. The reaction speed constant and apparent activation energy have been determined. A catalytic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace iron(Ⅲ) has been set up,The sensitivity of method is 3.2×10 -11 g/mL,The linear range of iron(Ⅲ) is 0~0.3 μg Fe 3+ /25 mL?The method has been applied to the determination of trace iron(Ⅲ) in granulated sugar?hair with satisfactory results.
