Treatment of Inguinal Hernia with Plug and Mesh Tension-free Hernioplasty:Report of 209 Cases

Objective: To investigate the treatment of plug and mesh tension-free hernioplasty to inguinal hernia.Methods: The clinical data of 209 cases with inguinal hernia treated with plug and mesh tension-free hernioplasty from January 2003 to December 2009 were analyzed retrospectively.Results: 207 cases were cured,and the curative rate was 99.04%.Complications occurred in 39 cases,including groin area pain in 4 cases,groin foreign body sensation in 11 cases,postoperative urinary retention in 5 cases,wound liquefied effusion in 5 cases,scrotal effusion in 10 cases,residual sac edema in 2 cases,recurrence in 2 cases.Conclusion: Plug and mesh tension-free hernioplasty has the following advantages:simple,less damage in patients with rapid recovery,low recurrence rate;it is an ideal way of effective hernia repair.Correct surgical approach and surgical repair with a suitable material are the key for the prevention and treatment of post-operative complications of plug and mesh tension-free hernioplasty.
