Ulinastatin combined with somatostatin for treatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis

Objective To study the efficacy of ulinastatin combined with somatostatin for treating patients with severe acute pancreatitis.MethodsThirty-eight patients with severe acute pancreatitis asas divided into two groups:one group was treated with somatostatin, and the other group was treated with ulinastatin combined with somatostatin.The symptoms,signs,hemodiastase,C-reactive protein,TNF-a,IL-6,and IL-8 were observed.Results The remission rate of symptom and signs in the group treated with ulinastatin plus somatostatin was higher than that in the group treated with somatostatin alone(P0.05).The decrease rate of hemodiastase and leucocyte counts in the group treated with ulinastatin plus somatostatin was faster than that in the group treated with somatostatin alone (P0.05)The levels of CRP,TNF-a,IL-6,and IL-8 were decreased in the two groups,but on the third and the fifth days after the treatment,their levels in the group treated with ulinastatin plus somatostatin were lower(P0.05).The effective rate in the group treated with ulinastatin plus somatostatin(90.0%)was higher than that in the group treated with somatostatin alone(72.2%)(P 0.05).Conclusions Ulinastatin combined with somatostatin can control the progress of the severe acute pancreatitis,and increase the effectiveness,which needs further observation in clinical practice.
