Abstract

Objective To study the acute toxicity of 10% bifenthrin aqueous emulsion, and provide evidence for the toxicological assessment on safety of bifenthrin aqueous emulsion and pesticide registration. Methods Based on the toxicological test methods of pesticides for registration(GB 15970-1995) and The regulation of the pesticide registration data(China Ministry of Agriculture.2007),the acute oral toxicity test, the acute dermal toxicity test, the acute inhaling toxicity test, skin and eye irritation test, skin sensitization test were conducted. Results The LD50 of 10% bifenthrin aqueous emulsion in both male rats and female rats was 271 mg/kg b.wt.in the acute oral toxicity,4300mg/kg b.wt.in the acute dermal toxicity test, and the 2h LC50 of it exceeded 5 000mg/m3 in the acute inhaling toxicity test.So 10% bifenthrin aqueous emulsion in both male rats and female rats had mild grade toxicity by oral, and low grade toxicity by skin, and micro toxicity by inhaling. In the acute eye and skin irritation test of 10% bifenthrin aqueous emulsion in both male and female rabbits, the acute eye irritation index before washing was 6.25,and the average index was 2.5,and the acute skin irritation index was 0.0,so 10% bifenthrin aqueous emulsion had mild irritation for rabbits eye and no irritation for rabbits skin. The allergy of original drug forguinea pig was 0.0%,so this substance had weak allergy. Conclusion By the acute oral toxicity test,,the acute dermal toxicity test, the acute inhaling toxicity test, skin and eye irritation test, skin sensitization test,10% bifenthrin aqueous emulsion belongs to a kind of pesticide with middle oral toxicity, low dermal toxicity, micro inhaling toxicity, middle eye irritation,no skin irritation and weak allergy.
