Abstract
Objective To analyze results of case-finding and treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis in Hainan Province,and provide the technical evidence for sustainable development of TB control.Methods Cohort study of registered pulmonary tuberculosis cases and their treatment outcome from 2001 to 2006 in Hainan was conducted.Results From 2001 to 2006,36 639 active pulmonary TB patients were registered.The registration rate and detection rate of new smear positive cases were increased from 36.12/100 000 and 45.44% in 2001 to 57.71/100 000(2005)and 77.51% in 2006.The cure rate was 94.0%.Conclusion The level of case-finding,treatment and management of pulmonary tuberculosis in Hainan Province have been improved and marked achievements have been made since the implemention of modern tuberculosis control strategy(DOTS).
