Abstract
Objective To compare the TNF-α level in gingival crevicular fluid(GCF) between type 2 diabetics with periodontal diseases and systemically healthy person. Methods Thirty diabetic patients and thirty systemically healthy persons were included in this study. Their TNF-α was measured by radioimmunoassay, and HbA_1c by high-performance liquid chromatography. Results Diabetics had higher TNF-α level and the more quantity of GCF as compared to the control group(P0.01). The levels of TNF-α of diabetics did not correlate with HbAlc levels(P0.05). Conclusions The fluid amount and TNF-α level of gingival crevicular fluid are increased in T2DM, which may be associated with periodontal disease.
