Abstract
Objective To investigate the levels of tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α)in serum and gingival crevicular fluid(GCF)from periodontitis and non-periodontitis patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. And analyze the relationship between the levels and glycosylated hemoglobin. Methods To determine the concentrations of TNF-α in serum and gingival crevicular fluid from 84 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)method. At the same time, determine the levels of glycosylated hemoglobin from type 2 diabetic.Grouped according to glycated hemoglobin and periodontal status. Results The various periodontal indicators are remarkable differences in control group 1 and experimental group 1(P 0.05);The various clinical indicators are significant differences in control group 2 and experimental group 2(P 0.05),levels of TNF-α in serum and in gingival crevicular fluid showed significantly difference;Concentration of TNF-α in serum in experimental group 2 significant higher than that in experimental group 1,significant difference(P 0.05);In experimental group 2,between the level of glycosylated hemoglobin and the concentrations of TNF-a in serum and gingival crevicular fluid were positive correlation(correlation coefficient r is 0.516,0.492,P 0.05),respectively.Conclusion In addition to control HbA1c levels in patients with diabetes,we should do a good job of periodontal health education and periodontal maintenance that could effectively reduce the incidence of periodontitis or reduce periodontal inflammation. In turn,to reduce the risk of periodontal infection and enhance periodontal maintenance in diabetic can also control HbA1c levels effectively, and ease the metabolic condition of diabetes mellitus.
