Abstract
AIM:To investigate the level of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)in gingival crevicular fluid(GCF)from insulin dependent diabetes mellitus paticnt with periodontitis, simplex periodontitis and periodontal health person, and the relationship between TNF-α concentration and metabolic condition.METHODS:The level of TNF-α in GCF was measured by ELISA.The concentration of HbA1c in IDDM patients was analyzed.RESULTS:The level of TNF-α in GCF from insulin dependent diabetes mellitus paticnt with periodontitis was significantly higher than that from simplex periodontitis and the control group. The level of TNF-α in GCF was irrelevant to HbA1c was irrelevaht.CONCLUSION:Diabetes can promote the level of TNF-α in GCF from periodontitis.
