Abstract
Objective To explore the monitoring result of plasma concentration of sodium valproate and its clinical significance.Methods The valproic acid concentration in epileptic patients' serum was measured by fluorescence polarization immunoassay.The relation between the plasma concentration of 1220 patients and the clinical efficacy was reviewed.Results The measured results of 734 patients(60.16%) fell within the effective concentration range,377 cases(30.90%) did not while 109 cases(8.94%) exceeded that range.The plasma concentration showed no significant difference within the effective therapeutic range in different age groups,and the correlation of dose and plasma concentration was not constant.Conclusion The plasma concentration of sodium valproate differs a lot between individuals,so it should be regularly monitored and the dose should be adjusted in time during medication in order to improve clinical efficacy and reduce adverse drug reactions.
