Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To analyze serum concentriaton of sodium valproate in epileptic patients so as to guide clinical rational drug use. METHODS: Serum concentrations of sodium valproate in 30 epileptic cases were determined by fluorescence polarization immunoassay and the results were analyzed. RESULTS: Of the total 30 cases monitored, serum concentrations of sodium valproate in 6 cases (20. 00% ) were less than 50 μg·mL-1 with an effective rate of 16. 67% ,in 23 (76. 67% ) were within 50 ~ 100 μg·mL-1with an effective rate of 73. 91% and in 1 (3. 33% ) was greater than 100 μg·mL-1with an effective rate of 100. 00% . CONCLUSION: There are great individual differences with regard to serum concentration of sodium valproate in in epileptic patients. Timely monitoring of serum concentration of sodium valproatein and individualized therapy are preferable.
