Serum Concentration of Valproate Sodium:Analysis of 240 Epileptic Children

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To monitor the serum concentration of valproate sodium in epileptic children.METHODS:The serum concentration of valproate sodium in 240 epileptic children patients were determined by fluorescence polarization immunoassay and the determination results were analyzed.RESULTS:Of the total 240 cases,69 (28.75%) were 50μg·mL-1,153(63.75%) were with the range of 50～100μg·mL-1 and 18(7.50%) were 100μg·mL-1 in serum concentration of valpr-oate sodium.CONCLUSION:There are great individual differences among patients in serum concentration of valproate sodium.Monitoring of the serum concentration of valproate sodium is of great importance in guiding reasonable clinical drug use.It is advisable to adopt individualized administration scheme according to serum drug concentration.
