CD_(44)V_(6) and PCNA in gastric cancer: expression and clinical signifi-cance

Abstract

Objective To study the expression and biological characters of CD44V6 and PCNA in gastric cancer. Methods The expression of CD44 V6 and PCNA was detected in 53 cases of gastric cancer by streptavidin peroxidase immunohistochemistry technique. They were compared with the other 20 cases of normal gastric mucosa. Results In 53 cases of gastric cancer, the positive expression rate of CD44 V6 was 62.3 % (33/ 53). And of PCNA the positive rate was 92.5% (49/53), the strong positive rate was 64.2% (34/53); The positive rate of CD44V6 and the strong positive rate of PCNA were correlated with histological types, depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer (P 0.05) . Conclusion The combination detection of CD44V6 and PCNA is of important value to evaluating biological behavior of gastric cancer and the prognosis of the patients in gastric cancer.
