Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of protein P73 and PCNA(prolife rating cell nuclear antigen) in gastric carcinoma and its clinical pathological significances. Methods:Immunohistochemical staining(SP method) was used to detect the expression of P73 and PCNA protein in 40 cases of gastric carcinoma and 20 cases of chronic atrophic gastritis. The correlation of P73 and PCNA expression with clinicopathological data was statistically analyzed. Results:① The positive rate of P73 protein expression in chronic atrophic gastritis group and gastric carcinoma group were 20.0%(4/20) and 62.5%(25/40) respectively with significant difference(P0.01).The positive rate of PCNA protein expression was significantly different between chronic atrophic gastritis group(55.0%,11/20) and gastric carcinoma group(80.0%,32/40)(P0.05).② The positive rate of P73 protein expression in gastric carcinoma group had no correlation with the histological type, depth of invasion of gastric mucosa and lymph node metastases(P0.05).The strong expression for PCNA in gastric carcinoma group was correlated with the histological type, depth of invasion of gastric muscosa and lymph node metastases(P0.05).③ The expression of P73 was positively correlated with the expression of PCNA in gastric carcinoma group(rs=0.387,P0.05).Conclusion:As a tumor suppressor gene,P73 has its tissue specificity, and the expression of P73 and PCNA is significantly related to pathological characteristics of gastric carcinoma and their biological behaviors. Both P73 and PCNA play important roles in the distinct hyperplasia of gastric cancer.
