Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between circulating levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP) and pulse pressure(PP).Methods A total of 435 old subjects were sampled from out-patients and in-patients.The concentrations of high-sensitivity C-reactivite protein and serum triglycerides,LDL-C cholesterol,HDL-C cholesterol, glucose were measured. Results A positive relation was found between PP and hsCRP(P0.001),Hcy(P0.001).This relation remained after adjustment for classical EH risk factors. Conclusion PP elevation is associated with elevated hsCRP and Hcy levels in old patients with EH.Inflammation response might play an important role in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension.
