Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP), pulse pressure(PP) and microalbuminuria(MAU) in patients with essential hypertension. Methods Consecutive 60 patients with essential hypertension were classified based on the MAU level:patients with MAU(n=30) and the group of patients with normoalbuminuria(NMAU,n=30) with 30 healthy subjects as control.MAU,hsCRP,PP were determined. Results The level of hsCRP and pulse pressure in MAU group were higher than those in NMAU patients and healthy subjects (P0.05);Level of MAU was positively related with concentration of hsCRP (r=0.42,P0.05) and PP(r=0.62,P0.05) in patients with EH (P0.05).After adjusting for age,SBP, DBP and blood sugar,hsCRP(r=0.26,P0.05)and PP(r=0.32,P0.05)remain positively related with UAE. Conclusion Renal damage is related with the levels of hsCRP and pulse pressure in essential hypertension.
