Abstract

Objective To investigate the possible mechanism of autoimmune response in the resorption of the intervertebral disc herniation. Methods 20male SD(Sprague-dawley)rats were cho- sen.The rats were divided into control group and experimental group at random. In the experimental group, discs were harvested from the caudal vertebrae and placed subcutaneously in the epidural. After 30 days, the rats were killed and discs were harvested. Flow cytometry and immunohisto- chemistry were used for analysis of cells and tissue. At the control group, coil was placed subcutaneously in the epidural. Results As compared with the control group, the proportion of activated T cells (CD4+and CD8+)and B cells were significantly higher than the experimental group. Conclusion Nucleus pulposus attracts activated T and B cells and triggered an autoimmune response.
