Efficacy of quetiapine in schizophrenia treatment in 50 cases

Abstract

Objective:To understand the efficacy and side effects of quetiapine in schizophrenia treatment.Methods:50 patients diagnosed as schizophrenia were assigned to take questiapine for 8 weeks,and the positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS) and treatment emergent symptoms scale(TESS) were used.Results:After two-week treatment,the total scores of PANSS varied obviously compared with the scores before treatment,P0.05.The side effects were somnolence,giddiness,weight increa,tachycardia and extrapyramidal side effects,but the side effects above were relatively light and patients could bear them.Conclusion:Quetiapine is a kind of safe and effective new antipsychotics.
