Abstract
A new genus and a new species of Pireninae,Pteromalidae are described in this paper. The type speciment is deposited in the Zoological Museum,Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Liaoella gen.nov. Type species: Liaoella alternativa sp.nov. The genus is named in honor of the late Prof.Liao Ding Xi,who contributed his career to the taxonomy of Chalcidoidea in China.Feminine gender. Antennae inserted distinctly below ventral margin of eyes;pedicel plus flagellum shorter than width of head;6 segments between pedicel and clava, first and second ring like, third subquadrate, fouth ring like and clearly shorter than third and fifth respectively(Fig.1).Thorax strongly flat(Fig.3);pronotum invisible in dorsal view(Fig.4),nearly as long as broad, with one line of long setae near posterior margin in front dorsal view(Fig.2);dorsellum invisible;propodeum flat and smooth, without median carina and plicae.Thorax in lateral view, the angle between pronotum and mesoscutum rectangular(Fig.3).Marginal vein about 4 times as long as postmarginal vein, stigmal vein a little longer than postmarginal vein (Fig.5).Gaster lifting posteriorly(Fig.3),ovipositor slightly extended beyond tip of gaster. Liaoella is close to Macroglenes. The diagnostic characters of the two genera are given as follows:1 Antennae with 6 segments between pedicel and clava;first and second ring like, third sub quadrate, fourth ring like and clearly shorter than third and fifth respectively(Fig.1);pronotum invisible in dorsal view(Fig.4);pronotum in front dorsal view nearly as long as broad, antero lateral corner roundly protruded(Fig.2) Liaoella gen.nov. Antennae with at most 5 segments between pedicel and clava;fourth neither ring like nor clearly shorter than third and fifth respectively;pronotum visible in dorsal view, shorter, antero lateral corner not protruded Macroglenes WestwoodBiology.Unknown. Distribution.China,Jilin(Changbai Mountain). Liaoella alternativa sp.nov. (Figs.15) Female.Body length 1 2 mm.Body black brown;antennae yellow except scape black brown;legs brownish but coxae and femora concolorous with body. Clypeus smooth, lower margin slightly protruded.Relative measurements:head width 21,length 9,height 19,space between eyes 13,eye height 11,malar space 4.Antenna with 6 funicular segments between pedicel and clava;the second funicular segment 2 times as long as the first segment, without sensilla;the third segment subquadrate and 2 times as long as the second, with sensilla;the fourth segment 1/3 as long as the fifth, without sensilla. Thorax flat.Relative measurements:in front dorsal view pronotum length 14,width 11;mesonotum width 19,length 9,scutellum width 9,length 19;marginal vein 13,postmarginal vein 3 5,stigmal vein 4 5. Petiole subquadrate.Gaster about 1 7 times as long as broad. Male and biology unknown. Holotype ♀,China:Jilin Province,Changbai Mountain(42 0°N,128 1°E),26.Ⅶ.1990,HUANG Da Wei.
