A TAXONOMIC STUDY ON STENOMALINA FROM CHINA (HYMENOPTERA: PTEROMALIDAE)

It is the first time to study the genus Stenomalina Ghesquiere in China A new species S pilosa is described and 7 species, S laticeps (Walker), S gracilis (Walker), S liparae (Giraud), S micans (Olivier), S epistena (Walker), S illudens (Walker), S fontanus (Walker), are first recorded in China The type specimens are deposited in the Zoological Museum, Institute of Zoology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Stenomalina pilosa sp nov Female.Length 3 mm Head and thorax with green and bluish reflection; gaster tinged with black brown and bluish; antennae black brown except ventral of scape yellow Legs yellowish except hind coxae concolorous with the thorax Face with reticulate puncture, the puncture of upper face larger than that of lower face; antennae inserted lower middle of face, distance between toruli to lower edge of median ocellus distinctly shorter to the distance of anterior margin of clypeus to lower edge of median ocellus (15∶20) Clypeal area with longitudinal line, and distinct epistomal sulcus; anterior margin of clypeus with a median tooth and a projection on either side Scape at most reaching median ocellus Pedicel shorter than first funicular segment The first funicular segment with 2 rows of sensilla, the rest segments with one row of sensilla Head in dorsal view, temple converging rather strongly, about 1/3 as long as the eyes Relative measurements: head width 50, height 40, dorsal length 23, POL∶OOL as 11 5∶7, space between eyes 32, eyes height 24, malar space 9 Head wider than thorax Thorax convex with strong sculpture Pronotum collar strongly margined Notauli weak and complete Scutellum convex, without distinct frenal line Propodeum with regular reticulate sculpture; median carina weak in the middle area, plica absent; nucha distinct Forewing with speculum; costal cell without hairs on upper surface; basal vein and basal cell pilose Midtibia with one spur, 1/2 times as long as the first tarsus Relative measurements: pronotum width 35, length in middle 2, mesoscutum width:length as 44∶28, scutellum width:length as 26∶20, marginal vein 29, postmarginal vein 25, stigmal vein 18 Petiole short Gaster 2 times as long as broad Holotype ♀, China: Jilin Province, Changbaishan (42 0°N, 128 1°E, 1700 1800m ),July 8,1978 LIAO Ding Xi Paratype ♀, data same as holotype.
