Emergency medical rescue in public health emergency.

Objective To study the role of emergency medical service system in public health emergency. Methods The management of 21 cases of public health emergency occurred in Zhengzhou from Jan, 2004 to Dec, 2005 and 3 cases of very significant public health emergency in Henan Provence were retrospectively analysis. Results The departure of the ambulance and coordination of emergency care were done by 120 guiding center after emergency call received .There were 376 person injured and 182 died in 21cases of public health emergency in Zhengzhou. Only 1 died of severe multi-trauma in the hospital. There were 226 died at the scenes of 3 cases very significant public health emergency in Henan Provence and 97 injured were sent to the hospitals. One patient died of severe head injury 4 days after operation and one died of acute renal failure and sepsis. The other 95 injured recovery uneventful. Conclusion The establish and refinement of emergency medical service system can deal with public health emergency in fulltime, any condition and high effectiveness for limited damage.
