The therapeutic effect of Tongxinluo capsule with rosuvastatin on carotid atherosclerosis and inflammatory markers

Objective To analyze the effects of Tongxinluo capsule with rosuvastatin on carotid atherosclerosis and inflammatory markers.Methods 100 patients with angina pectoris of coronary heart disease were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.Both groups were treated with rosuvastatin;the treatment group also received Tongxinluo capsule. The levels of blood fat,three kinds of carotid atherosclerosis plaque,IMT,interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) were observed before and after six months of treatment.Result In both groups,after treatment stable carotid atherosclerosis plaques increased,unstable carotid atherosclerosis plaques reduced, IMT became thinner,the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,IL-6,TNF-αand hs-CRP significantly reduced,HDL-C significantly elevated,there were significant differences between before and after 6-months of treatment(P0.01) and effects of treatment group were superior to those in control group(P0.05,P0.01).After six months,4 cases of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events occurred in treatment group(10.0%),and 7 cases occurred in control group(17.5%),there were significant differences between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusion It demonstrated that the combination of Tongxinluo capsule and rosuvastatin can decrease blood fat,make carotid atherosclerosis plaques more stable,reduce the immune inflammatory reaction in patients with coronary heart disease.
