On WANG Ya-nan's Educational Philosophy

WANG Ya-nan,a well-known economist and educator in modern China,was the first president of Xiamen University after Liberation.During his three decades of professorship,his experience of teaching and higher-education management was greatly enriched.He developed his own original understandings of higher education in such respects as the nature and function of modern education,how to manage comprehensive universities,how to cultivate and use talents,and how to do scholarly research.His educational philosophy is consistent with Marxist epistemology and methodology and it is a precious theoretical legacy in the history of education in China.
