Abstract
The peripheral blood cells of the Lutjanus erythopterus are morphologically described.On the stained smears,five major types of cells were recognized :erythrocyte,thrombocyte,neutrophil,monocyte and lymphocyte,while eosinophil and basophil are not found in blood smears.Among these leucocytes,thrombocyte is the smallest,while monocyte the biggest;and monocyte and neutrophil are the least encountered leucocyte,while thrombocyte the most abundant;lymphocytes are divided into three types: the small lymphocyte,middle lymphocyte and large lymphocyte.In addition,immature erythrocytes are presented in small numbers.The division of erythrocytes in the blood indicates that peripheral erythrocytes may develop directly in the circulation.
