Abstract
Objective To determine the susceptibility of clinical Ureaplasma urealyticum (Uu) and Mycoplasma hominis (Mh) isolates to tetracycline, macrolide and quinolone and to provide experimental data for clinical therapy. Methods The direct broth dish method was used for susceptibility testing of 195 isolates of Uu and 118 isolates of Mh with 8 antimicrobial agents. Results For the 195 isolates of Uu the percentage of susceptibility to tetracycline was 21.0%, to doxycycline was 48.2%, to minocycline 39.5%, to roxithromycin 79.0%, to azithromycin 88.7%, to jossamycin 74.9%, to ofloxacin 28.2% and to sparfloxacin 64.6%; and for the 118 isolates of Mh was 5.1%, 33.9%, 26.3%, 0.0%, 0.0%, 89.8%, 70.3% and 64.4% respectively. The most susceptible antimicrobial agent to both Uu and Mh from 960 mixed infected patients was jossamycin (79.2%). Conclusion Susceptibility monitoring of urogenital mycoplasma periodically is important in selection of clinical drug treatment.
