Abstract

This experiment was conducted with the potted plants of maize at three levels of water stress, the water stress effects on the content of soluble sugar and proline in maize leaves in three different maize varieties at three different growth and development stages were investigated. Results showed that soluble sugar and proline contents in maize leaves significantly increased, even proline content folded under different water stress. There was no distinct connection between drought resistance capability and of soluble sugar and proline contents in maize leaves.
