Clinical Treatment of the Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia with Tonglong Qibi Decoction

Objective:To observe the clinical effect and safety of tonglong qibi decoction on benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Method:To divide randomly 82 BPH cases into the treatment group(n=41) treated with Tonglong Qibi Decoction orally and the control group(n=41) treated with Qianlieshule Granules(QLSLG).The changes of the traditional Chinese medicine symptoms score(TCMSS),the International Prostate Symptoms Score(IPSS),quality of life(QOL) score and maximum urine rate of flow(Qmax),postvoiding residual volume(PRV),prostate volume(PV),prostate specific antigen(PSA),were observed before and after the treatment,and recorded the adverse events.Result:The total effective rate was 90.2% in the treatment group,and 70.7% in the control group,the difference being significant between the two groups(P0.05).The TCMSS,IPSS,QOL,and PRV were reduced Significantly,Qmax were improved significantly,in the treatment group compared to those of the control group(all P0.05).PV and PSA decreased more in the treatment group than in the control group,but without statistical significance(P 0.05).Conclusion:Tonglong qibi decoction could effectively decrease the objective parameters and subjective symptoms.It is safe in the treatment of BPH.
