On Ecological Consciousness in Shen Congwen's Novels of Western Hunan

Abstract

Western Hunan in Shen Congwen's novels has a double meaning,one is the real Hunan region and the other refers to a world in his imagination.In the imaginative world,he creates an ideal living mode in a society which is harmonious with nature.By doing so,he tries to give a therapy to the sick city civilization and derivative human nature.Moreover,his novels contains a human ecological philosophy which may have brought an enlightenment of ecological ethics.
